How do I understand the different meanings of the torah?

It is my understanding that the Torah is the basis for Judaism. This is where a lot of the laws or rules are based from. I don't know about the meaning "yarah". Sorry. Do you believe in God? I think one has to ask themselves that because there are so many different ones out there. Are you starting a religion that doesn't believe in God? Just trying to get a better understanding. There is so much research out there that it can be over whelming. My best advice is to research and research some more. Judaism is taken very seriously by the ones who follow it.
